The Mitkof School counts it an honor to have the opportunity to work with children, families and the community in order to educate children.  We want families to take every opportunity to stay in contact with the school because we believe education is the joint responsibility of school and family.  The need for helpful, consistent involvement cannot be emphasized enough.

The first priority of the Mitkof Middle School is a quality education for every student.  We strive to hold high expectations for everyone in our building because we believe it to create the best atmosphere for quality education.  There are opportunities during the year to celebrate student achievement during awards programs.  These programs allow us to recognize student success and we hope you will share these times with us.

In addition to our daily curriculum, there are additional activities we want our students to be active participants.  Please watch for notices about these activities.

The school supports our new parent-teacher organization.  This organization has adopted the title T.E.A.M. Mitkof Middle.  TEAM is an acronym for Together Everyone Accomplishes More.   Parent volunteers are offered multiple opportunities to work as part of the Mitkof TEAM.  Parents should share their email address with the school secretary in order to receive current school bulletins.  Volunteer opportunities will be listed in this source of school information.

A link to school’s handbook is provided on the school website.  Paper copies are available in the school office as well.  Please read this handbook carefully.  A core belief of our school is that a safe and orderly environment maximizes learning.  The items listed in this book are provided to help us realize this together.  If there are any items that raise questions, feel free to give me a call.

Respectfully,

Mike Brawner, Principal

Help for Haiti: A very successful week of fundraising for the Haiti relief effort was enthusiastically supported by MMS students, parents, and staff. As of Friday afternoon, a total of $1602.70 has been counted with more to be added. Final tally will be announced on Monday. Ms. Dahlberg's class has maintained their lead as the top fundraisers. Friday fact from the Red Cross: $60.00 provides tools for a family of five to build a temporary shelter.
