From the Principal:

Rick Dormer, Principal
Welcome to Petersburg High School where staff, students, parents and the Petersburg community work together to build a relevant, challenging and meaningful educational experience for students. We are a grade nine through twelve school located on Mitkof Island in the rich fishing grounds of Southeast Alaska. Our students are served by a highly qualified and experienced staff that guides them through rigorous core subject areas as well as provides experiential learning through electives such Aquaculture, Construction, Marine Fabrication and Videography.
Many of our students actively participate and thrive in extra-curricular activities, such as athletic teams, club events, leadership opportunities and community service. PHS is a place where exceptional staff combines academic rigor, relevant instruction and positive student relationships to ensure that each and every student is prepared for a successful experience in college or the workplace following their high school career.

Students:
Congratulations Earth Club who recently received recognition from the Alaska State 'Spirit of Youth', a campaign to recognize Alaska's teens. The Earth club was recognized for making a positive difference by implementing a recycling program in the school and starting an elementary school-based club.
Congratulations!
PHS Recognized as a Top Performing School: Petersburg High School has been recognized as one of America’s Best High Schools by U.S. News and World Report study. The 2010 U.S. News and World Report ‘America’s Best High Schools’ methodology is based on the key principles that a great high school must serve all its students well, not just those who are college bound, and that it must be able to produce measurable academic outcomes to show the school is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance indicators. Petersburg earned a silver medal, as one of the 561 top performing high schools nationwide.
