COMMUNITY INPUT: ANNUAL EVALUATION OF THE PETERSBURG CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT
INTRODUCTION
Each year the Board of Education and the superintendent meet to review the superintendent's performance and set goals for the coming year. Your input and perceptions are important to both the Petersburg City School District Board of Education and to the superintendent. Thank you in advance for taking the time to assist in the evaluation process by participating in this anonymous survey.
SUPERINTENDENT JOB FUNCTION
The superintendent serves as chief administrative officer of the Petersburg City School District. The superintendent operates under the policy direction of the Board and in accordance with federal and state laws; provides assistance to the Board in developing, formulating, and revising guidance documents in school finance, school program planning, and educational program review.
Work is accomplished by providing leadership to the school system employees and members of the community, and by system management that recognizes the need to achieve student, staff and Board goals, as well as the system improvement plans and objectives. Communications are provided to all levels within the school system, the city, the publics served by the schools, state organizations and agencies. Each of the programs must be conducted in compliance with policies and procedures of the Board of Education, as well as state rules and regulations and state and federal statutes.
The questions in this survey come directly from the district adopted "Superintendent Evaluation" instrument used by members of the Board in evaluating the superintendent. The only questions not included in this web based survey were those that related directly to the superintendent's working relationship with the Board of Education.

CENSUS 2010
The 2010 Census is on the horizon and the U.S. Census Bureau wants to ensure that everyone is counted. Below are five questions about the census and a link to the census website.
WHAT: The census is a count of everyone residing in the United States
WHO: All U.S. residents must be counted – both citizens and non citizens
WHEN: Folks will receive the census questionnaire in March 2010 either by U.S. mail or hand delivery. Some people in remote areas will be counted in person.
WHY: The U.S. Constitution requires a national census once every 10 years to count the population and determine the number of seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives.
HOW: Households should complete and mail back their questionnaires upon receipt. Households that do not respond may receive a replacement questionnaire in early April. Census takers will visit households that do not return questionnaires to take a count in person.
